The lead character of “Grandfather” was played by the stage, screen and television actor Robert Prosky, who was best known for his roles as Sgt. Jablonski in the hit TV series
HILL STREET BLUES, and as the
TV station manager opposite
Robin Williams in MRS. DOUBTFIRE.
Bob appeared in more than 30 feature films, including DEAD MAN WALKING, THE NATURAL, BROADCAST NEWS and HOFFA. He made guest appearances on a number of television series, including CHEERS, VERONICA’S CLOSET, FRASIER, THE PRACTICE and
TOUCHED BY AN ANGEL.
Bob was an accomplished stage actor, garnering Tony Award nominations for A WALK IN THE WOODS and
GLENGARRY GLEN ROSS. Along with his Broadway performances, he was a regular with the Arena Stage in Washington, DC. and appeared in stage productions throughout the world.
Bob died on December 8, 2008 and is greatly missed by the film, television and theater community. His professionalism lifted the cast and crew in the production of GRANDFATHER’S BIRTHDAY.
